Frequently asked questions
What’s happening to Ace Payroll?
While Ace Payroll has served customers well over the years, the general needs of our customers and industry have changed – which has changed the way we develop and support software as well.
We’re committed to delivering solutions that provide users with the greatest value, improve business outcomes and enable a better connection between accountants, bookkeepers and businesses.
Because of this, we’ve made the decision to prioritise our development resources into our MYOB Business Payroll product. As a result, we’re decommissioning Ace Payroll from 1 April 2027.
What will happen after 1 April 2027 when the product is decommissioned?
From 1 April 2027, MYOB will no longer provide features, patches, compliance updates or product support for Ace Payroll. This includes updates for any future Windows operating systems.
You’ll still have access to your historical data on the desktop where you have Ace Payroll installed. However, we’ll no longer be able to provide support, and the product won’t comply with any IR regulations from 1 April, 2027. Online backups and employee pay slips will no longer be delivered.

Can I migrate my data into my new plan?
Yes, our Migration team will support you to import your payroll and employee data from one file to the new file.
View our guide to see the full list of what data gets migrated.
What is the cost to migrate my data?
Migration is a complimentary service offered by MYOB.
How long does the migration take?
The process for data migration may take up to two weeks.
The actual data migration will be scheduled to take place following your final pay run so that your data will be ready in time for your next pay run.
The process of migrating your data involves a few steps but is designed to be as stress-free and as streamlined as possible:
- Call with a Migration Consultant to explain the process of the migration and to ensure your payroll data set up is suitable for migration. We’ll also go over the process for saving a back-up and sending this to our team.
- Once our team have received your backup file, this needs to be reviewed to ensure it meets requirements.
- Your data is migrated into your new software.
- Your Migration Consultant will run a session with you to show you the setup of your new file and employee data, onboard you to Payday filing and guide you through how to process a pay run.
The service is provided free of charge.
What training will be provided on the new software?

Are you going to stop me from accessing my file?
You’ll continue to be able to access your files as you have been. MYOB will no longer provide features, patches, product support or compliance updates for Ace Payroll, making it non-compliant with IR regulations.
Non-compliance may result in inaccuracies in leave, payroll recording, and superannuation and leave you open to penalties from the Employment Relations Authority.
I currently pay a subscription, will you continue to support me after this date if I continue using Ace Payroll?
If you’re on a monthly subscription, your final subscription payment for Ace Payroll will be deducted from your account in March 2027 for the period 1 March - 31 March 2027. After this date, MYOB will no longer charge the credit/debit on file.
If you’re on a 6 or 12 month subscription, your charges will be adjusted to exclude the period from 1 April 2027.
You’ll continue to be able to access your files as you have been. MYOB will no longer provide features, patches, product support or compliance updates for Ace Payroll, making it non-compliant with IR regulations.
