Who is Solo by MYOB designed for?

Solo by MYOB is designed for Australian sole operators including sole traders, freelancers, contractors, consultants, side hustlers and the self-employed.

How is Solo by MYOB different to MYOB Business Lite?

Solo by MYOB is an all-in-one app available via Google Play or Apple App Store. It is best suited to a sole operator who wants a better solution than spreadsheets to track their income and expenses as well as send invoices on the go. Turn your clients phone into a payment device with the Tap to Pay functionality. Solo is for a single user, who just needs the basics. 

MYOB Business Lite is a 100% web-based product, perfect if your clients business needs easy-to-use accounting software with a little more functionality. Your clients can use MYOB Business Lite to track the progress, profit and loss and expenses of every job. They can even customise their plan and scale up with payroll and inventory when they're ready. Lite allows for unlimited users and is for those with more traditional accounting needs.

Accessing Solo files

How do I access my client's Solo file?

Your clients can invite you to collaborate on their Solo file. Once they send the invite, you’ll be able to access it via the MYOB browser or MYOB Practice (You won’t need the Solo app).

You will be able to view, edit, and create records.

Do I need access to the Solo App?

You will not need access the Solo app.

How many people can my Solo client share access with?

A Solo user can share access with up to two Accountants or Bookkeepers via the Share Access feature in the app. Refer here for help How your client can add you. 

When a Solo user invites a practice to the Solo file, the practice administrator can invite others within their practice to also collaborate on the file. 

In addition Solo users can easily download reports and share them with their accountant if needed! Reports can be exported from Solo as a PDF or a .csv file. Refer here for Help.

Can I view, edit and create a record?

Once given access, you’ll be able to view, edit and create records within the Solo file via the MYOB browser or MYOB Practice. 
However, you will not be able to invite others (outside of Practice invites), set up online payments or Tap to Pay or add/manage bank accounts.

Is the terminology within Solo the same as MYOB Business?

There are some differences, as sole operators are often less familiar with financial terminology. That’s why we’ve created this handy cheat sheet—to help you quickly translate terms from Solo to their equivalent in MYOB Business.

How can I receive support for a Solo file?

If you are part of the MYOB Partner program you can raise a case in MYOB Practice as you normally would.  

Accountants and Bookkeepers without access to MYOB Practice will be directed to the Solo by MYOB for accounting professionals Community forum for help.  

Solo customers have their own dedicated support channels within the app.

 

Solo Money

What is Solo Money?

Solo Money is a business bank account built into Solo. Your clients can apply for Solo Money within the app. 
 

  • A dedicated business bank account built into Solo. 
    Your clients can avoid sifting through their personal bank statements trying to find business transactions. 
  • $0 monthly account keeping fees on active Solo Money accounts*     
    It’s free to set up a Solo bank account and there are no ongoing account keeping fees* 
  • Apply in minutes  
    Solo users can jump into the Solo app and hit Solo Money to apply. If they’re approved, they can get their own PayID and a Solo Business Debit Card ready to add to their digital wallet.

    *If the account has a balance of less than $500, a fee of $10 per month will apply unless at least one transaction is made in a 6 month period (other than transactions initiated by us, such as crediting interest or debiting fees and charges). Other fees may apply. See terms and conditions for full details. 
What does this mean for your clients?

If you have clients who use Solo, they now have the option to apply for Solo Money. This means less juggling of apps – bringing banking and business admin together. 

How do my clients apply for Solo Money?

To speed an application up, Solo users need to make sure they have these things handy:  

ABN   

Business details   

Driver’s licence or passport 


Applicants must:
 

- Be over 18 years old 

- Be Australian Tax Resident only 

- Have an active ABN 

Supported business types: 

- sole traders 

- private companies directly owned by individuals 

- partnerships with only individuals as partners. 

Unsupported business types: 

- trusts 

- other businesses owned by non-individuals 

- public companies 

- associations 

- cooperatives 

- government bodies.    

And a reminder, your clients need to have the latest version of the Solo app to access Solo Money. If they can't see it, they can check for updates or switch on auto updates to always stay ahead.    

Please note, you won’t be able to sign up on your client’s behalf.
